Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Oper (bundle ID com.operboulderdm.xjkc), published by operboulderdm, handles information when you use the iOS app. It covers the climber account, projects and beta, rallies, messages, photos that may show a face, notifications, Holds, and community reports.
The Terms of Service explain the rules for using those features. This policy explains the information those features use.
1. Who we are
Publisher: operboulderdm
App: Oper
Bundle ID: com.operboulderdm.xjkc
Contact: oper.crew.kpvr@gmail.com
Oper does not sell personal information.
2. Information Oper uses
2.1 Account and session
Quick Login creates a climber ID and a password and starts a session so you can open the app without typing those details again. Log Out ends the session and returns you to the login screen. The climber ID remains so you can sign in again.
Delete Account asks you to confirm. The confirmation states that ticklists, direct beta, and grade progression linked to the account will be removed. Confirming signs you out and returns you to the login screen.
The login screen does not collect an Apple ID, a Google account, or a phone number for sign-in.
2.2 Profile
The profile and the edit-profile screen use a display name, a climbing intent, a grade, a photo, and project summaries. Settings can show an email line and a phone line as part of the account card. Visibility switches (stealth, who can see activity, and whether a ready beacon is public) record the choice you make on that screen.
If you set a profile photo, Oper crops it to a square and saves it on your device. It replaces the default picture on your profile, your header, and your posts. Remove Photo on Edit Profile deletes it.
2.3 Projects, attempts, and topo
Oper uses the routes on your board, the grade, the gym or crag name, attempt notes, the progress step you select, and tags you attach to an attempt. The topo tool uses the photo on the canvas and the marks, ink, and note you add. When you tap Save & Post, the annotated image is saved on your device and attached to your post. Your XP, level, send pyramid, grade distribution, and statistics are calculated from these records.
2.4 Sessions, gyms, and crags
The Sessions tab shows crew session times, hosts, roster counts, and the gyms and crags they meet at, with names, areas, set notes, and conditions. When you join a session or mark yourself ready at a gym or crag, Oper records that choice so the list shows it.
Oper does not request your device location. Gyms and crags are listed by name and area, not by distance from you.
2.5 Rallies
A rally uses the session title, time, place, host name, roster count, spots open, and the gear points shown on the join confirmation. Confirming a join records that you accepted those points.
2.6 Feed, beta, and messages
The feed, beta discussion, and crew chat use the text you write, the clip or topo attached to a post, the climber name on the post, and messages in a thread. A beta page can also show a short audio note and gift activity under the clip.
2.7 Holds and gifts
Oper uses your Holds balance, the tier you select in the wallet, the price shown for that tier, wallet history lines, and the gift you choose to send, including its Holds cost and the climber you send it to.
2.8 Notifications
The first time you open the Projects home, iOS asks whether Oper may send alerts, badges, and sounds. Oper stores the fact that it has already asked, so it does not ask on every launch. Settings also has preference switches for beta alerts, rally invites, and grade alerts. Those switches save your choice on your device.
If you tap Remind Me on a rally page, Oper schedules a local notification on your device for that session. The reminder is created by iOS on your device and is not sent to us.
2.9 Support mail
If you email oper.crew.kpvr@gmail.com, we receive whatever you put in that message, including your return address.
3. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- sign you in and return you to the login screen when you log out or delete the account;
- show your projects, routes, attempts, topo marks, and profile;
- show crew sessions, gyms, crags, and rallies, and record a join or ready choice;
- show the feed, beta discussion, and crew messages;
- show your Holds balance, wallet history, and gifts;
- ask once for notification permission and respect the preference switches in Settings;
- review a community report and remove content or end access when the Terms require it;
- respond to you if you email us about a purchase or these policies.
We do not use your information to build a biometric face profile. We do not use it for cross-app advertising.
4. Permissions
Notifications. The system permission dialog appears the first time you reach the Projects home. Oper requests alerts, badge, and sound. The purpose is beta and rally alerts. If you have not answered that dialog yet, tapping Remind Me on a rally page shows the same system dialog; once you have answered, Oper does not ask again. If you decline, you can still use the rest of Oper. You can change the iOS choice later in iOS Settings.
Camera. Oper asks for camera access only when you tap Change Photo → Take Photo on Edit Profile. The camera is used to take that profile photo. If you decline, you can still choose a photo from your library or keep the default picture. You can change the choice later in iOS Settings.
Photo Library. Change Photo → Choose from Library opens the iOS photo picker. You pick one photo and Oper receives only that photo; it does not read the rest of your library.
Microphone and Location. Oper does not request microphone or location access.
5. Facial data
This chapter is the explanation of how Oper collects, uses, discloses, shares, and retains facial data, for App Store Guideline 2.1 and 5.1.1.
5.1 What is collected
Oper does not collect biometric faceprints, face geometry, or a facial recognition template.
Profile photos, crew photos, and beta stills may depict a climber's face. Those images are ordinary photos, not a biometric identifier. Oper does not measure a face, does not create a face template, and does not compare a face against a database of faces.
5.2 How facial images are used
Photos that show a face are used to display a climber's identity and climbing media inside Oper: profile, feed, gifts, and crew conversation. Oper does not use them to identify you across other companies' apps. Oper does not use them as a login method.
5.3 Disclosure and sharing
A photo that shows a face can be seen by other climbers on the profile, feed, and crew surfaces where that photo is posted. Oper does not sell these photos. Oper does not send them to a third-party automated content-analysis provider. Oper does not give them to advertising networks.
5.4 Where facial images are kept, and for how long
Facial images that are part of a climber profile or post are kept with that account's community content. They remain until the account is deleted or the content is removed after a community report. A profile photo you set is saved on your device; Remove Photo on Edit Profile or Delete Account erases it. Confirming Delete Account signs you out; the deletion confirmation states that beta videos and progression linked to the account are removed.
A copy of a photo may remain in an email you sent us as part of a report, for as long as we need that email to finish the review and the 24-hour action described in the Terms.
5.5 This chapter
Section 5, including §§5.1–5.5, is Oper's explanation of the collection, use, disclosure, sharing, and retention of facial data.
6. Third-party content analysis
Oper does not use a third-party service to generate or analyze your content by machine. Oper does not send your prompts, reference images, photos, messages, or account data to a third-party content-generation or content-analysis provider.
No prompt is sent. No reference image is sent. No account data is sent for automated generation or automated analysis.
Data and recipients: your profile photo, topo images, beta video, messages, notes, email, and device details are not shared with any third-party content-analysis provider. Oper has no such recipient.
Your permission first: Oper will not send any of this data to such a provider unless the app first names the provider and the data and you agree inside the app.
7. Community reports, blocks, and hidden posts
The first time you open Oper, it stores on your device that you accepted the Community Terms.
When you choose Report… on a post, comment, chat message, or profile, Oper creates a report ticket on your device. The ticket holds a ticket ID, the reason you picked, the climber name, the item reference, a short excerpt of the content, and the time. The ticket ID is copied to your clipboard. If you tap Send Email, your mail app opens a pre-filled message to oper.crew.kpvr@gmail.com containing those ticket details; nothing is sent until you send that email yourself.
Climbers you block and posts you hide are stored as lists on your device so Oper can keep that content out of your feed, comments, and messages. You can review and undo them in Safety Center.
Before text is posted, Oper compares it with a list of prohibited words on your device. The text is not sent anywhere for that check.
If you report inappropriate activity by email, the message can include the climber name, the screen, a description of the content, the time, and your email address. We use that message to review the report, remove the content, and end the offending user's access within 24 hours of a report we can review.
That email is delivered by your mail provider. We do not add a separate advertising use for report mail.
8. Holds and Apple payments
Top-ups are Apple In-App Purchases. Apple processes the payment and applies Apple's privacy policy to the payment itself. Oper does not receive or store your card number.
Oper keeps the Holds balance, the tier shown in the wallet, the App Store transaction identifier for each completed top-up (so the same purchase is never credited twice), and the gift amount. Holds do not expire and have no cash value. Prices shown in the app are in U.S. dollars for the eight tiers listed in the Terms.
9. Who else receives information
- Apple, when you buy a Holds pack and when iOS presents the notification permission.
- Your mail provider and operboulderdm, when you email a report or a support question.
- Other climbers, when you post, message, join a rally, or show a profile photo in those community surfaces.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with advertising brokers.
We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to respond to a valid legal request, limited to what the request covers.
10. Retention
We keep account and community information for as long as the account is in use, so the projects, feed, messages, and wallet can function.
Log Out keeps the climber ID so you can sign in again. Delete Account signs you out after a confirmation that describes removal of ticklists, beta, and progression.
Report tickets, blocked climbers, and hidden posts stay on your device until you undo them in Safety Center or delete the app.
Your profile photo and the topo images you post are saved on your device until you remove them or confirm Delete Account.
Report emails are kept long enough to complete the review and the 24-hour action, and longer if a dispute about that report is still open.
11. Children
Oper is not for anyone under 18. Community posting, messaging, rallies, and gifts are limited to people who are 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used Oper, email oper.crew.kpvr@gmail.com and we will delete the account access associated with that report.
12. Your choices
- You can refuse notifications on the system dialog, or change that choice later in iOS Settings.
- You can turn the notification preference switches off in Oper Settings.
- You can log out.
- You can delete the account from Settings after confirming the warning.
- You can email oper.crew.kpvr@gmail.com to ask what this policy covers or to send a community report.
13. International use
Oper is operated by operboulderdm and is offered in English. If you use Oper from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be processed in the places where we and Apple operate the features described in this policy.
14. Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the date at the top. The current policy is linked under Quick Login, in Settings, and in the Holds wallet. If you keep using Oper after an update, the updated policy applies to information we handle after that date.
